The Digital Twin Model

A simplified but powerful mathematical representation of your home.

What is a Digital Twin?

In engineering, a Digital Twin is a virtual replica of a physical system. We use it to run what-if scenarios without risking your comfort in the real world.

The Thermal Model

We model your home as a thermodynamic system characterized by three main parameters:

  • Dispersion (K): How fast your home loses heat to the outside.
  • Thermal Capacity (C): How much energy your walls and furniture store (thermal inertia).
  • Heating Power (P): The effective output of your heating system.

Approximations & Utility

Our model is a First-Order Equivalent Thermal Network. It is an approximation: it doesn't know about every single window or door. However, it is surprisingly accurate at predicting the aggregate behavior of a heating zone, which is exactly what is needed for efficient control.

We prioritize usefulness over perfection. A model that is 90% accurate but fast to simulate allows us to test thousands of future scenarios in seconds.
